Only students who reside within the boundaries of Steger School District 194 may attend the District school associated with their residence. A student’s residence is the same as the person who has legal custody of the child. At this time, Steger School District 194 does not accept students on a tuition basis.

McKinney-Vento Homeless Act
The McKinney-Vento Act provides rights and services to children and youth experiencing homelessness, which includes those who are: sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason; staying in motels, trailer parks, or campgrounds due to the lack of an adequate alternative; staying in shelters or transitional housing; or sleeping in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, or similar settings.
Under the McKinney-Vento Act, every local educational agency is required to designate a liaison for homeless children and youth. The local educational agency liaison coordinates services to ensure that homeless children and youths enroll in school and have the opportunity to succeed academically.

Registration of a student who is not a resident of Steger School District 194 is a fraudulent act.
Any student found to have been fraudulently registered will be immediately dropped from the attendance rolls.
NOTICE
Any person who knowingly enrolls or attempts to enroll in District 194 schools, on a tuition-free basis, a pupil known by that person to be a nonresident of the district
any person who knowingly or willfully presents to District 194 any false information regarding the residency of a pupil for the purpose of enabling that pupil to attend any school in this district without the payment of a nonresident tuition charge …
Also, by law, motorists must notify the Secretary of State's Office when an address changes.
