Dr. Anthony McConnell is the Superintendent of Schools for Steger School District 194. Dr. McConnell began his career as a high school social studies and English language teacher in Rock Island, IL. As the principal of Kipling Elementary School in Deerfield, Illinois Dr. McConnell led his school to recognition by the Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School.
Dr. McConnell earned his bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from Western Kentucky University, a master's degree in English language learning from Western Governors University, and his master’s degree and doctorate in educational leadership from Western Illinois University.
Dr. McConnell is the co-author of The Principled Principal: Ten Principles for Leading Exceptional Schools. He also serves as an adjunct professor in educational leadership for Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, and is the facilitator of the Illinois Principals Association Aspiring School Leader Network. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, flying, and spending time with his family: AJ, Aurelia, and Cayce.
